Square a sum or difference
The square-of-a-sum and square-of-a-difference identities help you expand and rewrite algebraic expressions.
The square of a sum equals the sum of the squares plus twice the product of the two terms:
$(a+b)^2=a^2+2ab+b^2$.
The square of a difference equals the sum of the squares minus twice the product of the two terms:
$(a-b)^2=a^2-2ab+b^2$.
Apply the square-of-a-sum or square-of-a-difference identity and choose the correct answer. To review these identities, study the lesson.
