Derivatives: basic formulas
“Basic derivative rules” is designed for students in Grades 10–11 who are learning about derivatives and preparing for more advanced work with functions, graphs, and exam questions. This topic is an important part of algebra and calculus, requiring confident use of formulas and an appropriate solution method.
Practice finding derivatives of common functions. These questions help you learn the differentiation rules and apply standard derivative formulas fluently.
How to practice:
- Choose the functions you want to practice in the settings. Six functions are selected by default; you can adjust this selection to suit your needs.
- Find the derivative and enter your answer. Use your keyboard to type numbers and the onscreen controls to enter fractions, $\sin$, $\ln$, and other symbols.
- If you need help, select “Show answer” to see a step-by-step solution.
Derivatives are a key high school topic. They are used to analyze functions, find intervals where functions increase or decrease, locate extrema, find tangents to graphs, and solve applied problems. They also support exam preparation. A table of derivatives is provided below the practice activity.
