About this skill

Column multiplication: larger numbers by one digit

Practice multiplying two-, three-, and four-digit numbers by a one-digit number in columns, with products greater than 100.

Multiply from right to left, including any carried digit from the previous step. Write the last digit in the product row and carry the tens to the next column. After multiplying the leftmost digit, write any remaining carry at the left of the product.

Enter digits in the highlighted cells. Each entry is checked, and any error is indicated. You can choose the session length and time allowed per question. Select “Show answer” to see the solution. This material is suitable for Grade 4 and for review in Grades 5–6.
